Holmes

Obaidah Hulme (Holmes) emigrated from England to settle in Salem of the Massachusetts Colony.   He was instrumental in the formation of the Baptist Church in America and was pastor in Newport for many years.   His descendants migrated to Grevested Long Island, NY and later to Monmouth, N.J.   Descendants eventually ended up in Greene County, Ohio, then to Delaware County, Indiana and finally John William Holmes settled on the Grant-Huntington County line near Van Buren, Indiana

Chaney

The Chaney (Cheney) families were of English background coming first to Massachusetts  then migrating to Virginia and finally to Tennessee before coming north to Grant County, Indiana.    Many of the connecting lines originated in the same general area of Massachusetts.   The exception was the Millikan family which originated in Ireland and then came through Pennsylvania to North Carolina before working their way north to Indiana.

Myers

Our Myers family were immigrants from Switzerland and many in the family earned their living as carpenters and builders.   The Swiss craftsmanship earned them a fine reputation wherever they went.   They settled in Montgomery and Bucks County Pennsylvania.  From Pennsylvania, they migrated to Fairfield County Ohio and finally to Jefferson Township, Huntington County, Indiana

Davis

I cannot verify a Davis link farther back than Wyllis Davis however, I have a great deal of information on other ancestors of Clara Etta Davis.  Interesting is that nearly all lines lead to England.   The Johnson and Terrell's actually can be traced back to many of the royal families of Europe going back as far as William the Conqueror.    Our line comes from many communities on the east coast and are predominately Quakers which accounts for the substantial records available.   Before coming to Grant County Indiana, they migrated from Henry and Wayne Counties.
